Fitting Exercise Into A Hectic Schedule {guest post by Holly}
I am a wife, a mom, and a photographer. That doesn’t leave much time for exercise, especially during the summer months when wedding season abounds. I’m going to share with you some of the ways that we fit fitness into our lives.
I learned pretty quickly that a set fitness routine wasn’t going to work for us. My job doesn’t have a set schedule, we have school activities to work around, and my husband is a farmer – so no schedule there. I also get bored pretty quickly when I try and force myself into a fitness routine. We have done a lot of trial and error, and have finally realized that as long as we make health and exercise a priority everything else works itself out.
One of my best friends is a Zumba coach and I attend her class whenever I can. I can’t always attend every class, but the beauty of Zumba is that you don’t have to. You can easily pick up the moves at any time, no matter how many (or few) times you’ve participated. It’s a ton of fun – and you dont have to be a skilled dancer at all!
We also run/bike ride as a family. We put the kids on their bikes and hit our local running path. My husband and I run alongside while they ride. Occasionally we may have to remind them to slow down, but it’s a great way to build up stamina and hang out as a family.
We also use Wii fit. This is mostly the cardio exercises, and mostly in the winter when we can’t get outside.
Along with various exercises, we also do all we can to stick to a low sodium and whole food diet. Health is our priority, and what we put in our bodies is a huge part of it. The 100 Days of Real Food blog has been a huge inspiration to me, and has taught me how to change my tried and true recipes to healthier options without losing the flavor.
I hope you found something useful here, and stick around for the rest of the series! I will certainly be reading along. 🙂
