Joining Bobbi for a fun collection of great things I’ve read this week, favorite products, and other things I’m enjoying currently.
How to Help Children Learn to Solve Their Own Conflicts from PB and Grace is a MUST read for all parents who have siblings squabbling and running to you to solve their woes when brothers are annoying.
Mothering the Skeptic on the Blessed Is She blog is a great read for any parent who has a child who questions everything, and great even for parents who don’t have a child who questions their faith yet. I’d be willing to bet that every family will have a child ask big, hard questions at some point. This post gives support and encouragement to lovingly walk with your child through that stage.
These Bible Verse Memory Cards, because the verses are short, inspiring, full of hope, and they are Truth. Because the lettering is beautiful. Because they are great bookmarks. Because they make great cards or mini gifts. Because they’re the Word of God.
The Turquoise Table was a great listen (I bought the audio version) and such a simple idea to start building community. It’s about spending time in the front yard, and welcoming people in to your life, even if for a few minutes as they walk past. This summer, when so many of my friends are moving, and my kids are growing up and yearning for more peer relationships, we’re going to try out the idea. I’m going to spread out a blanket on the lawn or pull out the card table, grab a drink, and hang out in the yard. Who’s our first guest? 😉
Podcasts. Abiding Together and The Gathering Place are my new favorites. This month, the ladies at Abiding Together are reading and discussing the new apostolic exhortation from Pope Francis. Monday’s episode was such a good listen; I felt like I learned even though I haven’t had time to read the document myself yet. And this week on The Gathering Place? Jenna and Beth chatted with Bishop Barron! spoiler: he likes coffee with his morning prayer. He talks about the smell of coffee reminding him of prayer. Love it!
Running. Surprised? I am still surprised. This week, I started running or even walking every day with the family, aiming for at least a mile each day. The Sous Chef has run with me twice this week! It’s good to be out and active, and I’m glad to have the kids joining me in an active life. Hoping to run a few races with them this summer!
