On This Day in August

| | |

It’s just about 1pm on the Feast of the Assumption, and while the bishops declared it to not be a holy day of obligation, I’m toying with the idea of taking my little brood to Mass later this evening. I might be crazy. Catholics can be that way. So can mothers. I’m both, you know, so does that make me extra looney? Meh.

The kids and I are doing what we do, moving about the day at a snails’ pace, getting things done. Tomorrow I’ll start them all waking earlier and eating by 8:30 so that we can begin lessons and outings before noon. Slow summer days are quite pleasant. I hate to see them go, but these little people need educating and I’m the one to do it.

Of course, there’s also the never-ending stream of laundry, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping… I need to get back to my Rule (which isn’t complete yet) and bring more order to my existence.

I know my blog has been quiet. With a month of swim lessons, as well as strange things going on with our housing (just toss up a St. Joseph prayer for us, ok? Thanks.), there simply hasn’t been time to blog. You may have noticed it looks a smidge different, as work on a blog-redesign. And there’s the news for the day, which is that I opened a shop.

What?

Well, it’s been a bit of a dream in the works for several months, and thanks the to input and encouragement from friends (who were testers!), I finally opened up an Etsy shop.

Truth be told, I had one way back when there were only 3 little Fences running amok, but now it’s bigger and better and much more streamlined to my passions.

My shop is the Other Side of the Fence, filled with prayer table sets, prints, printables, and sometimes, whimiscal photos and kitchen lovelies. Please do check it out.

While I was chatting with my mom and dad about it, Small Fry decided to celebrate with some confetti-throwing. What a champ, cheering me on in something like this.

Or maybe not? Ah well, he’s been busy in his own right, cutting four teeth in one week, learning to stand, and trying to climb stairs. It’s only a matter of time before I find him on the table, stealing food that someone left from lunch.

What’s next? More trips to the pool before it closes, trips to the beach to see the tidepools, and soaking up more vitamin D. Oh, and pulling weeds and dusting. So much dusting.
