As soon as I have my head on straight and my other reads finished (I’m currently working through The Interior Castle by Saint Teresa of Avila, listening to Own Your Life by Sally Clarkson for the second time, and reading aloud The Lord of the Rings trilogy with my kids), I hope to read more by and about Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross. From the very little I know about her, I desperately want to know her better, to invoke her intercession for myself and my daughters, and to be convicted in faith as she was. She’s modern (a martyr of WWII), was an atheist, and her feast day is my wedding anniversary. Something tells me I need to get to know her as a spiritual friend. And this quote? It’s so beautiful and rich, and speaks to the incredible worth and dignity of women.

What’s not to love about the divinely-gifted and appointed nature for women’s souls to love  and nurture and nourish other souls? Maybe Saint Teresa of Avila won’t mind too much if I set aside her “Interior Castle” for a few more months while I get to know another Teresa. 😉

I have a few great posts in the works (from blogging friends!) for more Women Encouraging Women posts. If you’d like to contribute, consider these questions, and send me a message:

–What have you dreamt about and finally decided to pursue?
–Who (a woman) in your life has made a difference? Were you welcomed in a new town or parish? Did someone give you the courage to start a Bible study? Were you invited to a study and that helped your faith grow? (etc)
–Tell us about taking charge of your health, mental, spiritual, physical. Maybe you’re facing your fears and trying a new sport. Maybe you’re going to run a race for the first time. Maybe you’re battling depression and have found that therapy and other tools help. Maybe you’re just coming back to the Church for the first time in years. Maybe you’re exploring Catholicism and need encouragement to keep seeking Truth.
–Are you going on a pilgrimage?
–Are you volunteering?
–What are you studying? Are you in college? Are you going back to school?
–What creative pursuits are you doing?
