Simplify Meals (again) + Affiliate Sales/Updates
Breaking up the otherwise disorganized posting in these 31 Days to share some meal-planning tips and blogs to read as well as give you some neat information on a few of my affiliates. If you’ve been holding out on these for a better deal, NOW is the time.
Plan those fall meals with ease, friends. Look at what your family loves, and plan it often. I mean, don’t most of us eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch? Cereal and sandwiches, amIright? Or eggs, toast, and salad? Or something…but if your family is anything like mine, breakfast and lunch don’t change much. And we don’t complain or bat an eye. So why are we scouring the Pinterest boards and interwebs for 857 NEW ideas for dinner?! Lordy, we need help. We need help to just get back to simple. It’s been beaten into my brain over and over (especially since my posts about planning here, here, and here) that simple is really what we need as busy homemakers, and without simple, we struggle. Heck, I’m struggling as it is. So here’s the tips I’ve gleaned to share with you.
- Repeat your favorites, often.
- Prepare doubles or triples of meals and freeze them for later.
- Use your leftovers. Last night I made a brand new dinner with leftovers. We had spaghetti noodles, peppers, chicken, pineapple, bok choi and it all turned into a lovely “new” stir fry.
- Plan ahead and make note of your busy days. Plan especially simple things, crock-pot, or freezer meals for those nights.
- Simplify your pantry list so shopping is faster and easier!
For more ideas and recipes to simplify your cooking life, you’ll want to read Simplified Dinners.
I have read through both versions, the regular and the allergy-friendly version (dairy and gluten free), and I go back to them from time to time to remind myself to STOP trying to be fancy, and to use the recipes. Variations of pot roast? Yes, please! There is so much to gain from these handy e-books. AND! Use the discount code convivial to get $3 off through October only. There are a few days left in October, so you’ll want to take advantage of this great deal! (Affiliate link there. Thanks for supporting me. I put all earnings towards good causes, like Cameron who is fundraising for a diabetic alert dog.)
Nell at Whole Parenting Family is starting a new weekly link-up for sharing meal plans! I think this will be great inspiration.
Unrelated to food, I’m still working my way through the e-course on simplified organization.
Mystie is offering a new opportunity to try her Simplified Organization course one module at a time! You can get access for 6 months to one module for only $15. This is fantastic! You should definitely check it out. I am grateful to take this self-paced course on my own time (which is rather limited) so I can not only come back to it when I have time, but use the time to really sit with the lessons, let the ideas and tips take root gradually, and make lasting changes. I think there is great value in taking advantage of the one-module at a time deal: you can plan your spending for just a small amount as you’re able, and you can use those months to really work with the course tips and advice. You can re-read the material, listen again and again to Mystie’s encouraging podcasts, and really grow and change your life and home.
So, it is October 28. I’m learning a lot about myself and my blogging through this 31 day project…but maybe I’ll save that brain dump for another post. I do still have a few days to finish, after all. 😉 Stay tuned for that enlightening bit about me, as well as an update on our prayer space, and fall decorating. So much to be excited about, I know. You’re sitting on the edge of your sits in great anticipation, I know. Try to contain your excitement. 😉

Ah, you have inspired me! We eat about the same 15 “easy” meals all fall and winter (with the occasional new or fancy thing thrown in for special occasions). But my recipe box is PACKED with recipe cards, torn out magazine pages, and scraps of paper for things I’m pretty sure I will never make. And even if one day I’m inspired to make them – hello… INTERNET! I’m going to purge my recipe box this week. Thanks!
I would love to hear about your top 15. 🙂
