Summer Bump Style {a pregnancy fashion post}

|

here is my disclaimer that I am using some affiliate links in this post, to ModCloth.com, which I think is a really swell place to shop for fun clothes and funky household accessories. Enjoy.

Hot days. Pregnancy woes. Afternoon storms. Feeling huge. Feeling amazing. Having a glow. Having a frumpy day. Changing sizes faster than you care to admit. How does a pregnant mom manage and dress to feel and look great?

Truth is, I don’t get out of jammies or yoga pants every day. Some days, my husband’s t-shirts might be most comfortable. That’s okay. Pregnancy can be uncomfortable, even for me, and I don’t really mind being pregnant. It’s labor that puts me into a panic…but that hardly matters *right* now. Some days, pregnancy and mommy-hood are hard enough. Getting dolled up isn’t even on the radar on those days. If you’d like to know, today was one of those days for me. I was doing pretty well to get on clean yoga pants with my Blessed Is She tee before noon…even better to “class it up” with a wrap-around bracelet before taking my oldest to her violin lesson. Yes, yes, I did commit the yoga-pants-out-of-the-house sin.

Not every day feels like yoga pants, and not every day allows for yoga pants and a husband’s t-shirt. What then, do I wear when I feel like looking put-together like you care half an iotta, or when I really have to look more decent? I have a handful ideas, complete with pieces from one of my fave online shops, having a summer sale now! {{<<This is an affiliate link! If you end up loving something and buying, I’ll get a bit o’ cash back to help me run the blog. Many thanks!}} Best part? These are not maternity pieces so you can wear them before, during, and after. More bang for your buck. Winning.

This outfit here is one of my favorites, and I’m thrilled the tank will still be part of my wardrobe after Baby6 is born. It’s bright, it’s fun, it’s funky…and I do love macarons. Heck, I could even take it in if I want to have a more fitted look.

Those shoes? Also from ModCloth. I love how the add spunk and color to all kinds of outfits, jeans, skirts, dresses…

And in the second picture… It’s a baby bump! I’m going to admit that this tank is pretty big and flowy…perfect for layering, perfect for bumps, fun for that flowy look that seems popular now. But what do I know? I’m a 30+ mother of almost 6…you might not want to trust my fashion know-how. p.s., the earrings were also a find at ModCloth. (Yeah, yeah, it’s a big ol’ spammy post for ModCloth.)

Check out this shot, though. It’s the amazing magic of the perfect angle with a camera phone…and it made my (then) 26-week, lots-of-pounds large belly, disappear.

Isn’t that fun?

I also am loving a great maxi dress, or short-maxi (is that a thing? Is there a word for this dress I’m about to show you?) dress. Neither of these are maternity finds, either.

One was from ThredUp, {{<<yes, another sort-of affiliate. If you click and join ThredUp, you get $10 to spend, and I also earn credit.}} the other from –you guessed it– ModCloth.

My favorite part of all these? They are versatile. The tank and the dresses can be dressed up with accessories, can be worn before, during, and after pregnancy, can be worn with sweaters into the fall and winter… It’s how I like my wardrobe. Functional for all time.
