Why I Am Giving $10 for Children in Iraq
You guys. I may be pregnant and a little extra emotional these days, but my heartstrings are pulled in a major way for a group of children in Iraq. These are 100 absolutely precious, adorable, children, who have been forced out of their homes by ISIS. I know, thousands of people have been. Thousands and thousands…how can begin to help ease the suffering?
Look at these children.
Look. Try to feel God’s love for these precious souls, even just a smidge of what God feels for them. Are your heartstrings pulled now, too?
Think of how much balance going to school can bring to your family. Or how much peace having a safe environment brings, whether you school at home or send your kids to a well-chosen school in your neighborhood. Think of how your enthusiastic kids fill their backpacks for the first day, and you count down the days until that routine brings some sense of normal back to your family after a great summer.
Now image these children, their lives shattered and disordered by being uprooted because ISIS is ripping their world apart. Imagine what a safe, clean school would do for them. Imagine how much peace and order they might feel, sitting at new desks, in a school meant just for them, to help them and their families regain a sense of order.
Imagine that you are helping to make it possible, for just $10. JUST TEN DOLLARS.
That’s so much less than I spend on Chipotle to feed my brood. And for $10, I can–and am–going to help make a difference in the lives of these children who so desperately need some peace right now. RIGHT. NOW. I am also going to encourage my kids to think about helping. I mean, they earn allowance! My kids could even pool a few bucks and get to $10 without even blinking. This is how we teach our children to foster peace, to see a need and meet it, to be generous. We show them the faces of those in need, show them how a small action and a few dollars can go a long way (around the world, even!), show them that by spreading the word, we can actually change the world.
You can help! Spread the word, and when 10 of you plus me give just $10, we will have bought a double desk for a classroom addition that is already in the works in Kirkuk, Iraq. St. Bryce Missions is partnering with Preemptive Love Coalition, an organization that has a
long and proven track record on the ground in Iraq, to raise funds to furnish a two-classroom addition to the existing Our Mother Mary school. The school currently serves 100 children, and are hoping to open their doors to 100 more with this addition. You can sponsor one double desk for $110. That would be you giving $10 and inviting ten friends to do the same. Will you help? Will you spread the word by sharing this post with your friends and family, posting on FB, emailing it, whatever you choose? Please, help make a huge difference for these children!
